Girls to Senior Women Pathway

Program Overview

At Langwarrin Soccer Club, our Girls' Development Pathway is thoughtfully designed to nurture and elevate female players of all levels. Our program allows each girl to progress at her own pace while providing meaningful opportunities to advance her skills and understanding of the game.

Our pathway includes:

  • Skill Development: Personalized training sessions aimed at enhancing individual abilities in a supportive environment.
  • Age-Specific Teams: Opportunities for girls to develop alongside peers, ensuring appropriate challenges that foster growth.
  • Progression to Senior Levels: A clear and structured path from junior teams to our senior women’s squad, offering exposure and opportunities at every stage of development.

We are committed to creating a nurturing atmosphere where girls can thrive, build confidence, and reach their full soccer potential. Join us at Langwarrin Soccer Club and embark on a journey of growth, community, and opportunity.

Inclusive Team Environment

At Langwarrin, we proudly embrace diversity and inclusion, welcoming players from all backgrounds into a vibrant community. Our players flourish in a nurturing environment, supported by families and dedicated volunteers in coaching and management roles, enriching our club’s community.

Season Objectives

For the 2026 season, our objective is to substantially increase female participation by expanding our girls' teams across all age groups. The revival of our senior women’s team in 2025 bolsters this comprehensive pathway, supporting aspiring female players in a fun and engaging environment.

Teams and Competitions

We participate in various leagues and programs, providing structured opportunities for young players:

  • Langy Cubs (Ages 4-6): Our introductory program encourages young children to enjoy soccer in a playful atmosphere.
  • Bayside Juniors & FV Miniroos (U6-U12): Structured team play and weekly training, fostering a love for the game with twice-weekly training and weekend matches.
  • FV Juniors (U13-U18): Competitive play focused on development, with separate boys’ and girls’ teams practicing twice a week.

Training and Development

Following the Football Australia curriculum, our training focuses on essential soccer skills to enhance player readiness and team cohesion through drills, skill activities, and small-sided games.

Beyond the Field

We celebrate community spirit with initiatives like team photo days and an annual End of Season Presentation that honors the dedication of our players and volunteers. Our club environment emphasizes personal growth, sportsmanship, and the joy of soccer.

Season Information

Preseason and Training
Preseason training kicks off every February or early March, providing an ideal opportunity for players to regain their rhythm, sharpen their skills, and develop camaraderie with teammates. To prepare for the upcoming season, we may organize friendly matches or gala days for additional practice.

Training sessions are held twice a week, focusing on player development and match readiness. Each session follows the Football Australia curriculum, emphasizing essential skills such as ball mastery, first touch, striking the ball, running with the ball, and 1v1 situations.

Typical training sessions include
  • Warm-ups
  • Skills development
  • Small-sided games
  • A standard match to conclude the session

Official Competition Season
The official FV football season commences in April and runs through September. Matches are scheduled both at home and away. Juniors will participate in initial grading matches organized by FV, which helps determine the final league placements for each team.

Team Photos
Throughout the season, we will plan team photo days. These moments are a wonderful opportunity to capture memories with your teammates and celebrate the spirit of unity within your squad. Don’t forget to bring your best smiles!

End of Season Presentation
As the season wraps up, we host an End of Season Presentation, typically in October, to celebrate the achievements and dedication of our players. This event highlights the season’s successes, recognizes outstanding performances, and offers a fitting acknowledgment of everyone's hard work and commitment.

Important Member Resources

FOR ALL MEMBERS
Parents, Guardians and Players are required to acknowledge and accept the following as being part of the Langwarrin Soccer Clubs Program:

FOR PARENTS

Be a good role model. Children watch and learn from you, so make sure you set a good example.
Avoid a ‘win at all costs’ attitude. Although you may think winning is important, the focus for junior sport should be on fun.
Be aware that your abusive behaviour may be against the law. Ask yourself, ‘Would my mother be upset or offended by what I am saying or doing?’ If the answer is yes then it’s best to sit down and be quiet.
Try not to be critical of coaches, referees or umpires. Many are volunteers who give their time to make sport possible for all our children, and some are just learning. If you have some constructive advice for them, leave it until after the game (usually 24 hours) or have a chat with the head coach or referee.
